Why your credit card can be use without the code...
24 mars 2025
Your credit card has a pin code for a good reason, the pin code is required to valid a purchase and avoid anyboby to use
your credit card if you lost it or someone stealth it. This is a basic protection for you and your bank account.
For years you can use "Paypass".
So what is Paypass : It's simple : when making a purchase just tap your "Paypass" card or phone on the payment terminal
at checkout. Depending on your bank's set limit, you can pay up to $250 without entering your PIN code.
Nice simple fast and easy.
When you bring your card close enough to a contactless terminal, the terminal generates a small magnetic field.
This field induces a tiny amount of electricity in your credit card's antenna, providing just enough power for
the chip to send your credit card information to the terminal and validate the purchase.
The implication of this pypass is really simple, there is no more security on your credit card because if your lost
it and someone find it he can use your credit card for any purchase up to the maximum set by your bank without
taping your pin code until you realize you lost your credit card or someone has stealth it.
Not a good situation...
How to see what's inside your credit card
Really simple, the credit as multiple layer of plastic and this type of plastic can be removed with
acetone. You can find acetone in nail remover or in a hardware store.
